Emergency Overview: Corrosive irritant, causing skin and eye burns, cough, breathing difficulty, nausea and vomiting. Bromide exposure may cause central nervous system effects and skin rashes.
Primary Routes of Exposure: Contact with skin and eyes. Inhalation of dust.
Eye Contact: Causes redness, pain, and blurred vision. Splashes from solutions may cause eye damage.
Skin Contact: Causes severe irritation, skin burns and ulcerations. Solutions are corrosive. Symptoms include redness and pain.
Inhalation: Extremely destructive to tissues of the mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract.
Ingestion: Causes corrosion to the gastrointestinal tract with abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.
Acute Health Effects: Inhalation of causes burning sensation, coughing, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting. Ingestion may cause drowsiness, mania, coma, and delayed death.
Chronic Health Effects: Repeated skin contact can cause varying degrees of problems ranging from dermatitis to ulcerations. Repeated Inhalation can cause occupational asthma.

Eye Exposure: Immediately flush the eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 10-15 minutes. A victim may need assistance in keeping their eye lids open. Get immediate medical attention.
Skin Exposure: Wash the affected area with water. Remove contaminated clothes if necessary. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.
Inhalation: Remove the victim to fresh air. Closely monitor the victim for signs of respiratory problems, such as difficulty in breathing, coughing, wheezing, or pain. In such cases seek immediate medical assistance.
Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately. Keep the victim calm. Give the victim water (only if conscious). Induce vomiting only if directed by medical personnel.
