Emergency Overview: Harmful if swallowed. Aqueous solutions of sodium silicate are strongly alkaline and corrosive to eyes, skin and respiratory tract. May cause harm to the unborn child.

Eye Contact: Alkaline dust and aqueous solutions causes burns to the eyes.
Skin Contact: Causes burns of the skin.
Inhalation: (As dust) This alkaline material is corrosive to the nose, mucous membranes and respiratory tract.
Ingestion: Harmful if swallowed. Small amounts exhibit little toxicity. Large amounts may produce caustic burns due to alkalinity.
Acute Health Effects: Dust and aqueous solutions are Irritating to skin, eyes and respiratory tract due to alkalinity. Corrosive to gastrointestinal tract if swallowed. May cause harm to the unborn child.
