Emergency Overview: This material is a strong, corrosive fuming acid. The material is extremely corrosive to skin, eyes, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Can release toxic fumes of hydrogen fluoride.
Primary Routes of Exposure: Ingestion, inhalation, eyes and skin
Eye Contact: Severe corrosive to the eyes. Exposure can lead to permanent eye damage.
Skin Contact: Severe corrosive to skin. Material can be absorbed through the skin. Unless treated, contact can lead to deep and painful chemical burns.
Inhalation: Material is a fuming liquid releasing toxic and corrosive vapors. Inhalation can lead to burning of the mucous membranes and lungs.
Ingestion: Material is toxic and corrosive. Ingestion may be fatal unless immediate treatment is available.
Acute Health Effects: Severe corrosive to eyes, skin, mucous membranes and respiratory tract. Ingestion may be fatal.
Chronic Health Effects: The health effects resulting from prolonged exposure to this compound have not been thoroughly investigated.

IARC: No
OSHA: No
SECTION 4: First Aid Measures
Eye Exposure: Immediately flush the eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 10-15 minutes. A victim may need assistance in keeping their eye lids open. Get immediate medical attention.
Skin Exposure: Wash the affected area with water. Remove contaminated clothes if necessary. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.
Inhalation: Remove the victim to fresh air. Closely monitor the victim for signs of respiratory problems, such as difficulty in breathing, coughing, wheezing, or pain. In such cases seek immediate medical assistance.
Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately. Keep the victim calm. Give the victim water (only if conscious). Induce vomiting only if directed by medical personnel.
SECTION 5: Fire Fighting Measures
Flash Point: none
Autoignition Temperature: none
Explosion Limits: none
Extinguishing Medium: none
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: If this product is involved in a fire, fire fighters should be equipped with a NIOSH approved positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing.
Hazardous Combustion and Decomposion Products: If involved in a fire this material may emit irritating fumes.
Unusual Fire or Explosion Hazards: No unusual fire or explosion hazards.
SECTION 6: Accidental Release Measures
Spill and Leak Procedures: Small spills can be neutralized with sodium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate or lime. The solids can then be swept up and properly disposed of. In the case of a large spill, the area should be evacuated. Personnel should only enter the area fitted with a self-contained breathing apparatus. Larger spills can be neutralized with lime.
SECTION 7: Handling and Storage
Handling and Storage: Store in a tightly sealed container. Keep away from heat and direct sunlight. Material can fume strongly on exposure to air. Handle the material only in an efficient fume hood.
