SiGNa and Strem Announce Partnership on Stabilized Sodium and Sodium-Potassium Alloy Products

Newburyport, MA, March 8, 2010. Strem Chemicals, Inc, a manufacturer of specialty chemicals for research and development, announced that it has entered into a partnership with SiGNa Chemistry, Inc., a developer of stabilized reactive metals for safer, more efficient industrial chemistry. Strem will market and distribute SiGNa’s line of stabilized sodium and sodium-potassium alloy products.

SiGNa Chemistry, Inc. has commercialized a suite of "green" chemistry materials based on the company's core technology for transforming reactive alkali metals and their derivatives - which have historically been dangerous to use and store - into safe, free-flowing powders. The resulting materials drive improvements in safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability across chemical processes in the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and general synthesis industries. SiGNa’s materials have demonstrated success into relevant pharmaceutical and fine chemical reactions, including Birch reduction, C-C bond formation, deprotection, desulfurization, hydrogenation, deuterium incorporation, and reductive phosphine alkylation to name a few. With a wide range of applications and ease of use, SiGNa’s materials are a valuable addition to any synthetic toolkit.

“SiGNa Chemistry was founded with the express mission of transforming reactive metals from a lab hazard into a safe part of global industry’s clean chemistry toolkit. Our ability to get these novel materials into the hands of chemists, engineers and scientists is greatly enhanced based on this relationship with Strem,” said Paul Vogt, Vice President of Process Development at SiGNa Chemistry. “Strem is a world class organization with a great reputation for quality. SiGNa is honored to be associated with Strem through this partnership.”

“Strem is pleased to be working with a technology innovator such as SiGNa,” said Ephraim S. Honig, COO at Strem. “They have won numerous awards and we are confident that the addition of their technology to our catalog will help our research customer base that is working with alkali metals and those that have considered them but perhaps shied away due to the hazards involved.”
