SOCMA’s 9th Annual Washington Fly-In

Strem Chemicals, Inc., Met with Congressional Leaders about Proposed Changes in Chemical Regulations

R.J. Wolcik and Dr. Ephraim Honig traveled to Washington, D.C., on behalf of Strem Chemicals, Inc., to participate in SOCMA’s 9th Annual Washington Fly-In on April 11-12, 2016. They met with the staff of Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA, 6th District), Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) about proposed changes in chemical regulations. As part of the Fly-In, Strem Chemicals communicated its position on the issues small chemical companies face in the United States, including the passage of Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reform and a Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB), as well as support for free trade agreements and regulatory reform. During an opening reception in the Lyndon Baines Johnson Room of U.S. Capitol on April 11, Wolcik and Honig, along with about 50 other SOCMA members, heard from Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA), who discussed the importance of STEM education and the chemical industry. Comstock encouraged SOCMA members to share stories about the importance of the chemicals they make in products Americans use every day, as well as the impact their businesses have on the communities in which they live.
