The International Year of the Periodic Table “IYPT”

Celebrating 150 Years!

In 1869 Dmitri Mendeleev published his paper on the periodic table.  He showed that when the elements were arranged in order of their atomic weights there were stepwise, or periodic, changes in their properties.  He even recognized that there were gaps in the properties and predicted the existence of previously unknown elements.   As these missing elements were discovered, the acceptance of Mendeleev’s concept began to take flight. The iconic depiction of the elements organized in the periodic table hangs in almost every science class room in the world.  It is an indispensable tool for science teachers and for chemists on every level.  In recognition of this extremely important development of chemistry and the world of science, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recognized this year as the International Year of the Periodic Table (IYPT).

Our company is proud to say that we work with and market over 70 elements from the periodic table, with the major exception being radioactive materials.  We consider ourselves a “Chemists” chemical company.  Additionally, a fun fact for our customers who have not noticed this, many of our product numbers begin with the primary element’s atomic number, followed by a four digit item code.

If you’re interested in receiving your own copy of our Strem periodic table poster stop by our table/booth at any of our upcoming conferences!
