Emergency Overview: Liquid releases hydrogen chloride fumes when exposed to moisture. Corrosive to skin, eyes, mucous membrane of nose and mouth. May cause cancer through inhalation and heritable genetic damage.
Primary Routes of Exposure: Ingestion, inhalation, skin, eyes
Eye Contact: Causes severe burning of the eyes
Skin Contact: Causes severe burns of the skin. Toxic through skin contact. May cause sensitization through skin contact.
Inhalation: Toxic through inhalation. Causes inflammation and ulceration of the respiratory tract.
Ingestion: Toxic through ingestion. Ingestion may lead to dizziness, abdominal cramps, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, weakness, shock, and convulsions.
Acute Health Effects: Toxic by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. Corrosive to skin, eyes, and respiratory system and when ingested
Chronic Health Effects: Cancer hazard. May cause cancer through inhalation. May cause heritable genetic damage. May cause dermatitis, ulceration of the respiratory tract, acute hepatitis, kidney damage, and conjunctivitis.

SECTION 4: First Aid Measures
Eye Exposure: Immediately flush the eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 10-15 minutes. A victim may need assistance in keeping their eye lids open. Get immediate medical attention.
Skin Exposure: Wash the affected area with water. Remove contaminated clothes if necessary. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.
Inhalation: Remove the victim to fresh air. Closely monitor the victim for signs of respiratory problems, such as difficulty in breathing, coughing, wheezing, or pain. In such cases seek immediate medical assistance.
Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately. Keep the victim calm. Give the victim water (only if conscious). Induce vomiting only if directed by medical personnel.
