Emergency Overview: Ingestion of nickel salts may cause intestinal disorders, convulsions, and asphyxia. Irritating to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. May cause cancer.
Primary Routes of Exposure: Contact with skin and eyes. Inhalation of dust.
Eye Contact: Causes slight to mild irritation of the eyes.
Skin Contact: Irritating to skin. May cause redness, itching, pimples, boils, hives and blisters. Prolonged contact may lead to dermatitis.
Inhalation: Irritating to the nose, mucous membranes and respiratory tract.
Ingestion: Ingestion of nickel salts may lead to dizziness, abdominal cramps, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, weakness, and convulsions.
Acute Health Effects: Irritating to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. may cause intestinal disorders, convulsions, asphyxia, sensitization dermatitis, allergic asthma and pneumonitis.
Chronic Health Effects: May cause cancer. Chronic ingestion of iodides may produce iodism. Symptoms include skin rash, running nose, headache and irritation of mucous membranes.

Eye Exposure: Immediately flush the eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 10-15 minutes. A victim may need assistance in keeping their eye lids open. Get immediate medical attention.
Skin Exposure: Wash the affected area with water. Remove contaminated clothes if necessary. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.
Inhalation: Remove the victim to fresh air. Closely monitor the victim for signs of respiratory problems, such as difficulty in breathing, coughing, wheezing, or pain. In such cases seek immediate medical assistance.
Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately. Keep the victim calm. Give the victim water (only if conscious). Induce vomiting only if directed by medical personnel.
