Emergency Overview: Harmful if swallowed. Irritating to eyes, skin and respiratory tract. May cause harm to the unborn child and cause heritable genetic damage.
Primary Routes of Exposure: Contact with skin and eyes. Inhalation of dust.
Eye Contact: Causes slight to mild irritation of the eyes.
Skin Contact: Causes slight to mild irritation of the skin.
Inhalation: Irritating to the nose, mucous membranes and respiratory tract, and cause chronic health problems.
Ingestion: Harmful if swallowed.
Acute Health Effects: Harmful if swallowed. Irritating to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. May cause harm to the unborn child.
Chronic Health Effects: Prolonged exposure to manganese containing dust may produce manganese pneumonitis and manganese poisoning. Symptoms include sleepiness, weakness and emotional disturbances. Equivocal studies have shown manganese may decrease fertility in men. May cause heritable genetic damage.

SECTION 4: First Aid Measures
Eye Exposure: Immediately flush the eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 10-15 minutes. A victim may need assistance in keeping their eye lids open. Get immediate medical attention.
Skin Exposure: Wash the affected area with water. Remove contaminated clothes if necessary. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.
Inhalation: Remove the victim to fresh air. Closely monitor the victim for signs of respiratory problems, such as difficulty in breathing, coughing, wheezing, or pain. In such cases seek immediate medical assistance.
Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately. Keep the victim calm. Give the victim water (only if conscious). Induce vomiting only if directed by medical personnel.
