Emergency Overview: Irritating to eyes and skin. Large doses of soluble lithium salts are toxic to the central nervous system and on repeated ingestion may damage kidneys and act as a teratogen
Primary Routes of Exposure: Ingestion, Inhalation, skin, eyes
Eye Contact: Causes slight to mild irritation of the eyes.
Skin Contact: Causes slight to mild irritation of the skin.
Inhalation: Dust may cause irritation to the respiratory tract; symptoms may include coughing and shortness of breath.
Ingestion: Ingestion may lead to dizziness, abdominal cramps, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, weakness, and convulsions.
Acute Health Effects: May be harmful if swallowed. Irritating to skin and eyes. Bromide ingestion may cause drowsiness, irritability, dizziness, hallucinations, and coma. Lithium salts are toxic to the central nervous system.
Chronic Health Effects: Repeated or prolonged exposure to bromides by any route may cause skin rashes (bromaderma) and central nervous system depression, including ataxia, psychoses, memory loss, irritability, and headache. Lithium salts may cause kidney damage.

Eye Exposure: Immediately flush the eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 10-15 minutes. A victim may need assistance in keeping their eye lids open. Get immediate medical attention.
Skin Exposure: Wash the affected area with water. Remove contaminated clothes if necessary. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists.
Inhalation: Remove the victim to fresh air. Closely monitor the victim for signs of respiratory problems, such as difficulty in breathing, coughing, wheezing, or pain. In such cases seek immediate medical assistance.
Ingestion: Seek medical attention immediately. Keep the victim calm. Give the victim water (only if conscious). Induce vomiting only if directed by medical personnel.
